THE FIRST SUNDAY IN LENT
Theme: The Temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness
The baptismal vow: “Do you renounce Satan and all the spiritual forces of wickedness that rebel against God?” I renounce them.

In the name of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen
The Invitatory
O God make haste to help us
O Lord make speed to save us
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Jesus said, “One does not live by bread alone. Worship the Lord your God and serve only Him. Do not put the Lord your God to the test.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Abides under the shadow of the Almighty

THE SECOND SUNDAY IN LENT
Theme: Standing firm
The baptismal vow: “Do you renounce the evil powers of this world which corrupt and destroy the creatures of God?” I renounce them.

The Invitatory
O God make haste to help us
O Lord make speed to save us
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
The Cruciform
Jesus said, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door.” Many live as enemies of the cross . . . their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame . . . their mind is on earthly things . . . We eagerly await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ . . . forgetting what is behind and straining for what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward . . . that is how you should stand firm in the Lord, dear friends.
The Weeks
The Lord is my light and my salvation,
Whom then shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life,
Of whom then shall I be afraid?

THE THIRD SUNDAY IN LENT
Theme: The abundance of God’s Love
The baptismal vow: “Do you renounce all sinful desires that draw you from the love of God?” I renounce them.

In the name of God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen
The Invitatory
O God make haste to help us
O Lord make speed to save us
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
The Cruciform
Jesus said, “Unless you repent, you too will all perish.” If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall. No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful, he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted he will provide a way out.
The Weeks
The Lord is full of compassion and mercy
Slow to anger and of great kindness
As far as the east is from the west
So far has he removed our sins from us.

THE FOURTH SUNDAY IN LENT
Theme: The overwhelming forgiveness of God
The baptismal vow: “Do you turn to Jesus Christ and accept him as you Savior?” I do.

O Lord make speed to save us
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
The Cruciform
“Father I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your child.” The father said, “Quick! Bring the best robe . . . a ring . . . and sandals. Let’s have a feast and celebrate, for this child of mine was dead and is alive again, my child was lost and is found.”
The Weeks
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
And will save those whose spirits are crushed
Taste and see that the LORD is good
Happy are they who trust in him!

THE FIFTH SUNDAY IN LENT
Theme: You can count on God
The baptismal vow: “Do you put your whole trust in [Jesus] grace and love?” I do.

O Lord make speed to save us
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit
As it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.
The Cruciform
I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness if knowing Christ Jesus my Lord . . . I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings . . . forgetting what is behind and straining toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward.
The Weeks
Those who sowed with tears
Will reap with songs of joy
The LORD has done great things for me
And I am glad indeed

Theme: Following Jesus isn’t easy, but sure is worth it!

He made himself nothing, taking the nature of a servant, he humbled himself, became obedient to death, even death on a cross. God exalted him, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
The Weeks
“Father if you are willing, taking this cup from me: yet not my will but yours be done.”
Be not far away , O LORD;
You are my strength; hasten to help me.
